A cosmic installation in the heart of Rome
On the terrace of the Trento and Trieste school you can admire historic domes. Prof. Corazzi defines the dome as "symbol of the sky, seat of the axis of the world and perfect miniature of the Universe".
Starting from here, the installation "Sferocchi e Astrocupole" by audiovisual artist Stanislao Cantono di Ceva and Piano B Architetti Associati (Gaia Maria Lombardo and Giorgio Pasqualini), transforms the terrace with the Astrocupole, luminous spheres in orbit that dialogue with the Roman domes, creating a cosmic landscape that goes beyond the confines of the terrace. But the cosmos is not only wonder. For Captain Kirk of Star Trek, the universe can be an "absolute black that swallows you up", for Nietzsche "If you look at yourself in the abyss, the abyss also looks at you". This duality is captured by the "Sferocchi" - 10 alien and grotesque planets with giant eyes that pose us with the question: are we observing the universe or is the universe observing us?
