An exhibit to tell the stories of mafia victims
Inside a former bingo hall, now transformed into a space of memory and the national headquarters of LIBERA - nomi e numeri contro le mafie, LINEE presents an exhibit dedicated to the remembrance of mafia victims.
An emotional journey unfolds through three stages of awareness, responsibility, and action, where each visitor is called to become an active witness to stories of injustice and redemption. Small stories, often lost in the overwhelming noise of mass media, re-emerge through the whispered voices of families, taking root like a forest of birch trees.
But Extralibera is not a traditional museum.
Its content is created by students from film schools, invited to transform the names of victims into original audiovisual works: a young, plural perspective that restores dignity and presence to stories too often forgotten. From this process, a short film award also takes shape, designed to support and promote a new generation of authors engaged in civic storytelling.
A path of rebirth and hope that transforms a place once associated with wrongdoing into a living space of memory and civic commitment, where architecture, light, and interaction guide visitors from the darkness of violence toward the light of collective redemption.
The project was created for LIBERA - nomi e numeri contro le mafie.
